LINGUELLA - THE FIRST CZECH APPLICATION FOR WRITERS

If you’re writing a book in Czech, you’ve probably run into one major problem: most writing tools are designed for English. Scrivener , yWriter , Novlr – great apps, but when you start writing in Czech, you quickly discover their limitations. No grammar checker for Czech, no support for diacritics in some features, and sometimes coding issues.

Linguella was created . And as a bonus, it also supports other languages – Slovak, Polish, and English.

 

What is Linguella ?

Linguella is a modern writing application created specifically for Czech authors. It is not a translation of a foreign tool or a universal solution “for all languages”. It is a tool designed from the ground up with the specifics of the Czech and Slovak languages in mind.

Whether you’re writing your first novel, working on a collection of short stories, or writing a screenplay, Linguella helps you stay on track and focus on what’s most important – your story.

 

Why do you actually need a writing tool?

You might be thinking, “Why can’t I just write in Word?”

Of course you can. But when your manuscript exceeds 50 pages, you start to run into problems:

  • Where did I write that the main character had blue eyes? Or were they green?
  • In the fifth chapter, is it Thomas or Peter who is narrating?
  • How much dialogue does a supporting character actually have?
  • How long are my sentences? Is the text too complex?

Linguella comes in , and it’s getting better and better.

 

What can Linguella do?

  1. Management of chapters and structure

Your story is not a linear document, but a complex structure. Linguella allows you to create chapters, change their order, add notes and metadata. You see the entire project at a glance and can instantly jump to where you need to go.

  1. Character records

Each character has their own profile with detailed information:

  • Basic data (name, age, gender)
  • Physical description
  • Personality and motivation
  • Comment

You’ll never forget the name of a supporting character’s brother or your hero’s favorite color.

  1. Manage color-coded dialogs

This is one of the most useful features. Each character is assigned a color and all their dialogue is highlighted in the text. At a glance, you can see:

  • Who is speaking?
  • Whether a character speaks too often (or not enough)
  • If the dialogue is natural and alternating
  1. POV (Point of View ) tracking

Are you writing from multiple perspectives? Linguella will show you who is narrating in which chapter. It will help you maintain balance between characters and eliminate inconsistencies in perspective.

  1. Grammar check

This is a big difference compared to foreign tools. Linguella includes a grammar checker for all supported languages. Slovak, Polish and English are checked using the popular LanguageTool , which unfortunately is not currently available for Czech. The application has its own built-in solution that combines an extensive dictionary (approx. 290,000 words, plus a lemmatizer and other custom spelling rules). Since the application is still under development, it may not catch all errors, or it may evaluate something that is correct as an error.   1. Text analysis

Linguella analyzes your text and provides statistics:

  • Readability (how difficult the text is)
  • Average sentence length
  • Average word length
  • Text density
  • Number of words, characters, paragraphs
  • Display and statistics of repeated words and phrases.

This data will help you determine whether your text is too complex or too simple for your target genre.

  1. Export to other formats

When you’re done, export your story to:

  • PDF – for printing or corrections
  • EPUB – for creating an e-book
  • DOCX – for further editing or submission to a publisher

Why not Scrivener ?

Scrivener is a great app and many writers love it. But it has a few major drawbacks for Czech users:

  1. No grammar check for Czech and Slovak – You rely only on basic spelling
  2. Complexity – It has so many features that you can easily get lost in them
  3. English interface – While translations exist, they are not always of high quality

Linguella is simpler, more affordable and most importantly – it understands Czech, Slovak and Polish.

 

How did Linguella come about?

Linguella was born out of frustration. As a Czech author, I was constantly encountering the limits of foreign tools. I needed an application that:

  • It will have a Czech interface
  • Will check Czech grammar
  • It will be easy to use
  • It will be affordable

 

Since I couldn’t find such an application on the market, I decided to create one. And so Linguella was born – a writing tool tailored to Czech and Slovak authors.
